30 Years in the HVAC Industry – Gembecki Mechanical Services, Inc.

As we close out the month of June, what does 30 years in business mean to Gembecki Mechanical Services, Inc., besides a number?

Reflecting on how the company first began and the growth it experienced takes one through many emotions. As a person who could fix almost anything, Mark first learned the trade working in his parent’s family operated business. In 1991, with two young children, Mark and Barbara opened Gembecki Mechanical Services, Inc. and worked the long hard hours to build the business. The goal was twofold: provide quality service to the customer with their best interest at heart; and provide the employees with a work environment that would be fulfilling. “Good Guys to Have Around!” Mark was an honest man who held a deep-rooted passion to serve his community. He created Gembecki Mechanical Services, Inc. to fulfill that need.

Back in those days, 1991, (for a small family business), marketing, finance, human resources, HVAC, estimating and customer service was different. The family would walk through local neighborhoods distributing flyers to spread the word of company’s services. Air conditioning estimates for residential and commercial applications were hand scratched and then typed on an IBM Selectric. Remember those? Large pagers and phones were used to communicate. Word spread. The day came, in 1994, when Dan was hired as the first employee – followed by so many more that are still here today: Rick, Marsha, Nick, Chris and Ron to name a few. The achievements of the company are attributed to all the employees who have left their footprint, a remarkable group that carry forward the same desire to serve our community.

Over 30 years, we have experienced market depressions, booming economies and most recently a pandemic. We have lived for happy days spent with employees at the office and had our sad moments too. The most transitional time was after the death of Mark Gembecki in 2017. Barbara acted quickly, surrounded with support, and positioned the company to persevere for many years to come. The children and Barbara continue to participate in the business operations today.

What does 30 years in business truly mean to Gembecki Mechanical Services, Inc. aside from reflecting on the past? It means opportunities to meet and service our local community for another 30 years and beyond. It means striving to provide excellent service for our customers to meet their HVAC needs. Loyal and supportive customers, we thank you! Employees, we thank you! It is a time to be thankful. Thankful to those that have worked for us, continue to work for us; thankful to our community for calling on us to service your air conditioning, heating and refrigeration concerns. We are honored.
